Petya Virus | Worse than WannaCry Ransomware
"Petya becomes a New Nightmare for many".
After The WannaCry Ransomware, it is to seem that a New Competitor is not in the Race of Virus Family. The Virus is called to be Petya, which is a kind of Virus but it is not exactly that.
The Verge says that the Virus starts Spreading its journey from European computers on 27th June 2017. The Virus is said to be informed users that it can be unlocked by Paying #300 for the Ransom.
But the Twist which was created here is that it looks like the Program Creators are not interested or are not in the mood of unlocking or restoring the Machines or Files of the infected Parts. After some several Analysis and Research, it reveals that the Virus is Designed to Wipe the Data or the Infected Parts from the Computers.
Which means it Clear your Wardrobe with no Prints and Stuff, and it becomes Empty. As after Paying the Amount there is no assured that you get your Stuff back in the way it was. As it becomes Vanish or Wiped and Swiped Up!!
Matt Suiche, founder of the cyber security firm Comae, he wrote a Blog and after many Analysis and Research about the Petya (The Virus), that his team noticed that the Virus is not a Ransomware. It is a "Wiper", “We can see the current version of Petya clearly got rewritten to be a wiper and not an actual ransomware,” Suiche writes.
According to Verge, the Virus is a modified that take an earlier version of the Petya Virus which was a True Ransomware. But Comae said that the codes have been specifically modified to change it from a virus that Encrypts the Disk of a Computer and Demands a Ransomware and at the end destroys the Disk totally.
But then why, why, why it is Suppose or Claimed to be a Ransomware??? Well, right now there is no Answer for that. but Suiche believes that whoever is behind this attack is hiding. “We believe the ransomware was, in fact, a lure to control the media narrative,” and “some mysterious hacker group” being behind the virus “rather than a nation state" said by Suiche.
The Suspense is still not out and it is still a Research for many, but the Virus is said to be Appear Primarily in the Ukrainian infrastructures like Electricity Suppliers, Central Bank of Ukraine, The State Telecom and at an Airport. The Antivirus Company Kaspersky Lab says that it was showed its first Movement in the Ukraine.
